After a previous cancellation of this game, it was reversed
to a home fixture. Williams and Reynolds were suspended and so Neville and
Goodwin returned to the starting XI.
First half goals from Goodwin, Thomas and Jones looked as
though they had the game as good as finished at the break, although Shear did
make a great penalty save at 1-0.
However Stur looked tired in the second half and failed to
capitalise on their lead, allowing the away side to get back to 3-2. Then when
Shear looked to have won the ball very well from an onrushing attacker, the
refereee was duped into giving another penalty. Alas, Shear could not save this
one and the game ended at 3-3.
This all means that 1 point at home to Sherborne on Tuesday
will guarantee Stur the 5th place that their season so deserves.
