Stur returned home from Parley with a point but really should have had a comfortable victory. The game was so one-sided it made Custer’s last stand look like a close fought thing, but Parley somehow managed to snatch a draw.

Gareth Thomas almost opened the scoring when he made a mazy run into the box. As he made to shoot he was tripped and managed to stay on his feet. he beat one man, beat two, was tripped again but still stayed on his feet and poked the ball just wide. Dan Manuel shot over following a well worked corner routine, Aaron Stacey hit one just wide and a Darrell Williams volley was inches over. Thirty five minutes into the game Parley found their way into the Stur half, probably using sat nav, and scored.

 HT: 1-0

The second half continued in the same vein. In the first minute a long throw into the danger area was cleared just as Manuel was about to apply the finishing touch. A good advantage was played by the referee after a foul on Stacey and the ball broke well for Williams and the Stur man went round the keeper but ran out of room.

The equaliser had to come and it arrived just before the hour when Manuel bravely stooped to head home a near post corner. A Luke Geddes cross into the six yard box was somehow kept out by a combination of desperate defending and luck. The resulting corner was half cleared and Williams again shot inches wide.

What's the definition of optimism? Jack Geddes shooting from 30 yards out. Or Jack Geddes shooting at all really. What's the definition of bravery? Taking on such a shot when Gareth Thomas has sprinted thirty yards to get himself into a good position to take a pass. Two minutes from time the younger Geddes brother won the ball just inside his own half and moved towards the Parley goal. The several options open to him seemed to cause confusion. One rush of blood later, the Parley keeper disappeared into the woods behind his goal to retrieve the ball.

Just before time a cross from the right was headed back across the six yard box towards the elder Geddes brother. I leapt into the air to celebrate what looked like a certain winner but the Parley goal was living a charmed life and the ball was somehow hooked over the bar. There was still time for one more chance but a tantalising ball across the face of the Parley goal which just needed a touch somehow eluded the queue of players at the far post.
