Stur stormed to an emphatic victory over 4th placed Granby Rovers at a cold Churchill Close.

The home side settled to their task quickly and opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Erkan Mete was fouled on the left bye line and hammered the free kick into the area. Ciaran Miller and Jack Geddes were both waiting to pounce and a panicked defender sliced the ball into his own net.

Stur were well on top but Andy Talbot had to make a good block when a visiting forward had a clear chance from eight yards out but somehow overran the ball straight into the Stur keeper's chest.

The second goal came after 23 minutes. Good work by Ryan Hall set up Scott Logan who side footed past the keeper. Five minutes later it was three, Mete won a header in midfield, Tom Rudd headed on and Steve Johnston nipped in front of the keeper and poked the ball home.

HT: 3-0

Five minutes after half time Dave Johnston beat his man and crossed into the box. Logan was on hand and hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

The game became scrappy after this as the visitors became frustrated and committed a series of niggly fouls. Logan was the victim of one such foul. As he fell to the ground the defence stopped in anticipation of the free kick being awarded. The ball broke to Tom Rudd who was clear through on goal but the ref bizarrely blew up for the foul because "they stopped because they thought I was going to blow the whistle".

The second half was a rather drab affair, but Mete provided a moment of entertainment ten minutes from time when he produced a delightful drag back and left his marker kicking fresh air.

The fifth goal came in the 90th minute when Joe Wood pounced on a half cleared corner and hammered the ball into the roof of the net.
