Stur got their
title drive back on track with this comprehensive victory over the Antelope
Inn.
Stur knew they
had to produce something special and that is exactly what they did. The
Antelope - no pushovers as their 5th place in the table shows - were simply
blown away. Luke Geddes opened the scoring after five minutes and Steve
Johnston doubled the lead ten minutes later. Antelope did come back into the
game when they brought the score back to 2-1 after 22 minutes, but Stur hit
back almost immediately when Geddes scored his second of the night and the
result was never in doubt after that.
It sounds
churlish to say so after such an emphatic win, but as the destiny of the
league title will now be decided on goal difference, it was disappointing
that even more goals weren't scored. 7-1 ahead at half time, four more were
added to the total after the break, but umpteen chances were missed in an
utterly one sided contest.
Blandford
Sports now have to win their final fixture at home to Maiden Newton by 17
clear goals to take the title from Stur. An impossible task you may think. Watch
this space.
