Stur remained in 5th place after this comprehensive win over the Bridport second string.

Play took place almost exclusively in the Bridport half for the opening ten minutes and the pressure paid off when Stur took the lead. Darrell Williams shot from a narrow angle and the ball beat the keeper and bounced back off the far post. Ross Humphrey was following up and brushed off the attentions of a Bridport defender and side footed the ball into the back of the empty net.

Stur were dominant in all areas of the pitch and it looked as though it was only a matter of time before they got the second goal. That goal came on the half hour when Mark Henson’s persistence won a corner. The Bridport defence failed to clear Sam Mason’s kick and Darrell Williams pounced on the loose ball and slammed it into the back of the net.

Just before half time, Williams got free on the left and drew the Bridport keeper before passing the ball across the face of the six yard box to Henson. A goal looked certain but a tremendous last ditch tackle from a Bridport defender cleared the danger.

Stur were once more the dominant force after the break and the only surprise was that they only added one more goal to their tally. The Bridport defence had their backs to the wall all afternoon whilst Paul Maitland in the Stur goal hardly had a save to make. Chances came and went. Graham Duff hit a thirty yarder which thumped off the cross bar. The ball was scrambled, hacked and hoofed out of the Bridport area time and time again. Having created so many chances it was perhaps inevitable that the third goal, when it eventually came, was a bit sloppy. Sam Mason delivered an inswinging corner which bounced in the six yard box and curled straight into the back of the net.
