Stur crashed out of the Dorset Senior Cup after losing an entertaining
encounter with Swanage Town.
The home side could have been out of sight by half time but profligate
finishing and good goalkeeping - in particular a tremendous one handed tip over
the bar from a brave Dan Manuel header - kept the scores level. Manuel gashed
his head in the attempt and returned to the fray with his head swathed in
bandages. The Swans keeper tipped another headed Manuel effort round the post
just before half time and it looked like Stur would take the lead from the
resultant corner but a blistering drive was headed off the line.
HT: 0-0
Swans started the second half better and took the lead after 52 minutes when
a defensive mix up left Wallington with a simple finish from 12 yards. More
chances came the way of the home side as the half wore on, but more chances were
wasted and the home side were left ruing their carelessness in front of goal as
Swanage hung on for the win.
