A large crowd witnessed plenty of goals as Stur went down by the odd goal in seven to their local rivals Cobham Sports.

Stur started the better of the two sides and had Cobham under the cosh from the off, but the visitors took the lead in the 10th minute when Payne ran unchallenged onto a long hopeful punt and fired past the exposed Maitland in the Stur goal. Stur equalised five minutes later when Humphrey headed a Jackson corner back across goal and Williams was on hand to hammer the ball into the roof of the net.

The home side took a deserved lead on the half hour mark when Humphrey chased what seemed to be a lost cause before combining well with Williams who crossed to the near post. Henson reacted quickest and fired the ball past the Cobham keeper and into the back of the net.

The scores were once again level in the 38th minute. Stur were hit with yet another sucker punch when Merrell broke the offside trap and raced through before firing past the again exposed Maitland in the Stur goal. Stur restored their lead two minutes later. There seemed little danger when Bridgeman picked up the ball just inside the Cobham half, but the defence backpedalled and he took full advantage, firing home a beauty from 25 yards.

Cobham brought the scores level on the hour mark when a defensive mix up set up Dawe who recovered from his surprise at being presented with such a gift and guided the ball into the back of an unguarded net. Two minutes later and yet another mix up allowed in the same player to score the winner.
