A depleted Stur side turned in an under par performance and went down to a heavy defeat against their near neighbours.

Borough had the best of the early stages, but Stur were dangerous on the break and had the best early chances. Elliott was denied by a last ditch tackle when through with just the keeper to beat. Minutes later the Poole keeper just managed to beat Williams to a through ball.

Borough took the lead on 32 minutes when Bedward battled his way down the right, beating a defender before sending a low centre across goal and Thomas arrived at the far post to steer the ball home. On the stroke of half time Stur were awarded a free kick on the right and the resulting ball onto the area was headed just over by Bridgeman.

Following the break, Stur had their best period of the game and Borough were forced to defend in numbers. On the hour mark, Stur were caught pushing forward and a quick counter attack presented Mills with a chance to shoot. Duff made what looked like a perfectly timed tackle, but the referee thought otherwise and pointed to the spot. Mills stepped up and converted the kick.

Stur were still in the game and Robbins was forced to punch clear under pressure from Williams after a Jackson corner, but Borough put the result beyond doubt on 69 minutes when Bedward made a strong solo run into the area before slipping the ball past the advancing Maitland.

Former Stur man Lee Thomas completed the scoring on 73 minutes when a tussle with the visitor's central defenders saw him win the ball before taking it wide of Maitland and converting from a tight angle.
