Captains Column

Our next fixture (Bridport at home), will no doubt be a tense affair with both teams struggling at the foot of the table.  Having had a good result against Westland’s, the team put in a couple of inept performances at Cobham and Swanage. Both games were littered with simple mistakes that until we cut out, will carry onto cost us dearly.

The first half performance against Ham Rec on Tuesday was encouraging, especially without so many 1st choice players being available. The performance of some of the youngster over the last few weeks has been the bright spot.  It was great to see 16 year old Tommy Hoares make his debut as a substitute against Ham Rec. All credit must go to Brian Bowles for producing some great youngsters, for which we hope to see more of next season.

The plans for next season are already being put into place as we cannot afford to have another season like this one. Without doubt this season has been a disappointment but it has also been a huge learning curve for us a club and lessons have to be learnt quickly if we are to progress on.

I hope you enjoy Saturday's game and fingers crossed we will be celebrating a much needed three points at the final whistle.

Paul
