Welcome to our visitors from Gillingham Town.

Well after another week without a fixture the season is becoming increasingly frustrating for all involved, I know we can do very little about the weather or fixture program but is has become so stop start that it is hard to have any sort of consistency.

The previous fixture against Portland was vast improvement on the league cup game against them, with Luke and Didi have great debuts.  If you think that we were without nine players that day, then we competed well, it was pleasing to see Birdy getting back to his best form and really getting amongst the Portland boys.  Portland are a great side and along with Gillingham it should be an interesting race to the championship.

From my point of view it has been really disappointing season for us with players and other people involved in the club letting Kev down. Kev works incredibly hard every week to put things in place for the players on a Saturday, only for someone to let him down last minute, which at this level is unacceptable as it puts that hard work out the window.  I hope that for the remainder of the season everyone pulls together and puts in the work that is necessary to push us up the table to a respectable finish.

Finally the Chairman had his 40th birthday party last Saturday, which was an interesting experience as I wasn’t expecting to see him in his pants with whipped cream all over him and stripper only to please to rub it in for him!!  It was a great evening especially as some of the past Stur greats were in attendance.  Julian and I did our best to talk Tappy into driving back from Somerset every week to play, as he still scares the s**t out everyone and looks fit enough to play.  Apparently he’s playing rugby now not bad for a guy who is over 40!!!
