Captains Column

I was hoping to tell you how we had turned a corner and that things where looking up and to be honest after our 1-0 win over Stur Newton, I really believed this to be the case, but after two embarrassing results away from home we are well and truly in a dogfight now to survive in the DPL.

After a humiliating defeat at Portland and an unfair drubbing at Cranborne, where as hard as it is to believe we were the better team for large parts of the game, but as usual were unable to turn pressure into goals and were ultimately caught on the break.  We now have to show some real fight and spirit if we are to remain in the top flight, something that we worked so hard on and off the pitch to obtain. The players know that now is the time to stop the talking and stand up and be counted! The players need the backing of the supporters to help them through the next few weeks, so I urge you all to get behind them and push them on. I know I will be doing this as injury is keeping me out at the moment, which is incredibly frustrating to say the least.

On a more positive note I would like to congratulate Merrick and his side for winning their youth section, and wish them the best of luck for next season when they step up to 11 a side football.

Paul
