With the 1st
team game at Swanage being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, it seemed like
a good opportunity for the reserves to pick up some points against a strong
Upwey and Broadway team.
The game
started poorly for the reserves with to many passes going astray and an opponent
who were up for the fight against a largely DPL side. With conditions poor due
to the weather the game never really sprang into life in the 1st half
until an opponent broke into the box and forced an excellent save from Walker at
his near post. Another chance fell to the visitors just before half time which
they took to go in at half time one nil up. Stuart Revell had to be replaced at
half time with a nasty looking injury to his leg.
The 2nd
half continued in much the same vain as the 1st with Stur struggling
to deal with there opponents, and after a good interchange in midfield an upwey
forward found himself clean through on goal giving Walker no chance he slotted
it into the bottom corner. This should have been a wake up call for Stur but a
third goal was soon to follow for the visiting team. The final nail in the
coffin was soon to follow when more comical defending saw Stur go four down. Dan
lane finally managed to get Stur on the scoresheet with a cool finish inside the
box, but Stur had left it to late to get back into the game.
The game
finished with Upwey hitting the post. The final score of 4-1 was a fair
reflection of the game with Stur never getting into the game.
