To support the activities (and participation) outlined above requires a ‘club culture’ founded on good communication, both internally and externally. The Club believes that it has raised its profile over the last years in securing external grant funding from local organisations as well as a greater degree of sponsorship from local businesses. A club profile has been produced and circulated within the local area. The Grants and Sponsorships Officer also liaises with the local press to ensure media coverage. Obviously this requires good communication within the Club to ensure that newsworthy items get aired.

The Club is constantly updating its websites (www.sturfc.co.uk and www.smyfc.co.uk ) with new ventures and new ideas to promote football and the involvement of its members. The website pages and the creation of an electronic e-newsletter are seen as positive (as well as practical) steps to ensuring dissemination of information. The Club Executive Committee and managers of the youth section hold regular team meetings with a view to improve all aspects of the Club. Copies of the minutes of team and executive meetings will now be placed on the website.

To foster greater communication and inclusion, the Club is aware that it needs to strengthen its fundraising and social activities. With this in mind the club will be hosting their first Summer Tournament this year.
