Sturminster Marshall Football Club recognises the importance of referees to the game of football. Not only can referees provide the club with knowledge and expertise in which to officiate matches, they can also assist club members in understanding the laws of the game.

All players are instructed to accept the decision of the match referee. Dissent from players towards match officials is not tolerated. Offenders can expect to be asked to answer to the club as well as the relevant disciplinary bodies.

In order to further the development of referees, the club is keen to recruit qualified officials and has a qualified referee that looks after recruitment and retention of qualified officials within the club.

In addition the Club will encourage non-playing members, players, officials, managers and coaches to undertake referees courses and pass their expertise to other club members. The ultimate aim is to have one qualified referee for each team. At this moment in time the Club has five qualified referees and 4 enrolled onto the next course.
